Emigration from Russia according to electronic social networks data: methodology development and qualitative analysis

The article describes the result of analyzing data from electronic social networks, in particular messages and comments on emigration from Russia for permanent residence. Data obtained from modern sources such as social media can complement official statistics on emigration and the results of sample surveys. The aim of the current study was to develop a methodology and identify opportunities for analyzing qualitative aspects of emigration from Russia based on social media data. It was found that there is a problem of fragmented representation of the emigration experience in social networks, which does not allow studying the phenomenon itself and its essence, but only describes its reflection in the information space of social networks and media space in general, taking into account subjective perceptions.
