The article deals with the issues of interaction in the categorical semantic complex on the example of the verb "freuen". Intercategorical interaction in this complex is due to the fact that two (or more) categorical situations are simultaneously realized. The categorical situation for them is the situation of causation of emotional modification. The second categorical situation, which is realized in the claimed complex, is the situation of intensification. The analyzed verb is an emotive causative, since it combines two semes in its meaning: causative and emotive. The category of intensity is updated by means of different levels. Thus, the object of this study is an emotive-intensive-causative categorical semantic complex, the subject of analysis is the methods of intensification in a situation of causation of emotional modification, in which the intensification concerns the sphere of emotion. Adjectives and adverbs act as lexical means of intensification, syntactic means include comparisons, synonymic repetition, syntactic parallelism. Actualization of the category of intensity leads to an increase in the expressive power of the utterance, since these two categories are functionally interconnected, they reflect two sides of one phenomenon, the category of intensity is responsible for the quantitative, and the category of expressiveness is responsible for the qualitative characteristic of the influencing power of the utterance.
