Bronchoscopic valve lung]volume reduction in patients with diffuse homogeneous pulmonary emphysema

A comparative study of treatment outcomes of patients with homogeneous forms of pulmonary emphysema with surgical and bronchoscopic lung-volume reduction was conducted. Patients were divided into three groups: group 1 (16 patients) - underwent lung-volume reduction surgery, group 2 (12 patients) - underwent bronchoscopic lung-volume reduction, group 3 (15 patients) - were treated only with medication. The efficiency and safety of bronchoscopic valve reduction are proved. The techniques of diffuse homogeneous emphysema treatment are described. Surgical and bronchoscopic lung-volume reduction can be used to treat patients with diffuse homogeneous emphysema.
