Energy resources as a factor of geo-political tension

The article analyzes the state of the global energy system from the point of view of the alignment of forces of global political players. The authors consider separately the energy strategies of the United States, the European Union and the Eurasian countries. The authors point out that the development of renewable energy sources has not been able to offset the importance of traditional energy sources at the present stage. The struggle for control over countries with large hydrocarbon reserves remains a factor of geopolitical instability.
