Эпендимомы составляют около трети всех внутричерепных новообразований у детей, чаще встречаясь в младшем возрасте. Основным методом их лечения остается хирургический с применением в качестве адъюванта у большинства больных лучевой терапии. Химиотерапия используется у детей, не достигших трехлетнего возраста, при рецидивах опухоли. Основными причинами неудач при лечении эпендимом остаются местное рецидирование и отдаленные последствия лучевой терапии. Уменьшить частоту и значимость этих явлений возможно совершенствованием нейрохирургической техники, применением конформных и стереотаксических методик лучевой терапии, разработкой новых противоопухолевых препаратов

Ependymomas of the brain in children. Current status of the issue. Review of literature

Ependymomas make up about one third of all intracranial tumors in children, often meeting in young children. The main method of treatment is surgery with adjuvant in most patients with radiation therapy. Chemotherapy is used in children have not attained the age of three, with recurrent tumor. The main problems in the treatment of ependymomas are local relapses and long-term effects of radiation therapy. Reduce the frequency and significance of these problems may by improving of neurosurgical techniques, the use of conformal and stereotactic radiotherapy techniques, development of new anticancer drugs
