The role and place of intensive care unit (ICU) in the progression of nosocomial Pseudomonas-based infection were analyzed using Pseudomonas aeruginosa 58 samples that were isolated in January-March, 2009 from different units of multi-type surgical hospital. It was found that 86,2% isolates appeared to be poly-resistant relatively to the selected range of the preparations with anti-pseudomonas activity.Combination of all the properties under study was demonstrated to be typical of the strains isolated from the intensive care unit. Molecular-genetic analysis revealed that the majority of those represented one P. aeruginosa genotype. We suggest that intensive care units appeared to be the area for the formation and the source for distribution of the nosocomial strain.
