Er Soltonoy is a prominent Kyrgyz fighter against the Dzungarian invaders

In this article, the author reveals, the heroic life of the Kyrgyz warrior-leader Er Soltonoy through historical materials and texts of Kyrgyz memorial songs, who fought with the external enemies of the Kyrgyz people, the Dzungarian Khanate, with the Oirats during the XVII-XVIII centuries. The memory of Er Saltonoy’s courage has been preserved widely thanks to Kyrgyz folk folklore, including in memorial songs. Er Soltonoy’s courage was show clearly in his wife’s lamentation-Jetkileng Apa. Jetkileng Apa was also, hero in its time and she was an example courageous women of Kyrgyz people. The same memorial songs describe the struggle of the entire Kyrgyz people for their independence together with the fraternal Kazakh people. It also describes the creation of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz union, against the Dzungarian Khanate, but the Kazakhs left the battlefield. In general, the liberation struggle of the Nourth (Arkalyk) Kyrgyz was called "the period of the Great Catastrophe (the Great Curse)" and a historical review was given based on oral folk legends under the leadership of the Cherik leader Er Soltanoy.
