Aesthetic principles of the drama of the television series

The article examines the aesthetic principles of the dramaturgy of television and lm series, and also proposes a typology of genres of this art form. The television series is considered as a special form of dramatic communication and the basic principles of the drama of the series, dating back to the classical poetics of Aristotle, are formulated. The author substantiates the identi cation of four genre types of TV series: theatrical, chronicle, detective and “sitcom” (situational comedy), as well as a mixed genre combining the characteristics of chronicle and theatrical types the genre of historical series; and a mixed genre combining the characteristics of a chronicle and a detective story. Examples of the series of these genres and the speci cs of their dramaturgy are shown.
