This article is devoted to the novel "Sidewalks and Walls" by the Moroccan writer Muhammad Zafzaf, namely the aspect of the existence of motives, aesthetics and images of existentialism in this novel. The work provides a brief reference about the author, a description of the main events of the plot, an analysis of the image of the protagonist. A number of conclusions were also made: the novel “Sidewalks and Walls” reveals the problem of the hopelessness of the human destiny, which reflects the frustration and sense of alienation of the Moroccan “lost” generation after independence. It is worth noting that this novel is one of the first novels in Morocco, in which the aesthetics of existentialism is present. Thus, Muhammad Zafzaf became one of the first writers in Morocco, who tried not only to reflect the problems of Moroccan society, but also to acquaint readers with its anomic condition. However, due to a number of reasons set forth in more detail in this article, the novel did not find a response either from readers or from critics.
