Since women are the pillars of our society, they play a vital role in nation building. The article examines the legal status of women from the X-XI century, when patriarchal-feudal relations became dominant among the ancestors of the Kyrgyz and related tribes. Remnants of patriarchal families were preserved by the Kirghiz as early as the first half of the 19th century, and in some cases even later. The article is an attempt to describe the changing role and its legitimate rights of women. The study also shows that Kyrgyz women have a slightly lower status than men, despite many efforts made by the government and the constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic. The article provides for various legal and constitutional remedies for improving the legal status of women.
