Modeling the history of pedagogy as the history of its methodology, the author addresses the problem of historical and pedagogical methodology, highlighting its formation in four stages: origin, stagnation, breakthrough, integration. The author's characteristic of each stage is presented, their distinctive signs are allocated, features of a modern stage of development of methodology of historical and pedagogical knowledge are defined.
