The article is devoted to establishing the stages of formation of corporate and business culture in Western European and domestic traditions. First, the author gives a brief description of economic culture, emphasizing its di erences from corporate and business culture, the main one of which is the possibility of attributing this concept to any era. Next, we trace the history of the emergence of the term “corporation” in ancient Roman culture and the reasons for the transformation of its interpretation from the royal to the imperial period. Already within the framework of ancient Roman civilization, it was endowed with an expansive connotation from an organization to a state. A similar approach continued into the Middle Ages, where the di erences in types of corporations only increased. Next, the author traces the features of the development of corporate culture in modern times, pointing out the factors that contributed to this (in particular, the transition of a number of European countries to Protestantism a er the Reformation). The article notes that it is extremely di cult to trace the stages of formation of domestic business culture, since terminology related to the business sphere (in particular, the concepts of “guests”, “merchant”) is distinguished by a polyvariant semantic interpretation even within the same historical and cultural period. This is partly due to lexical and geopolitical regional features, on the other hand, to the delay in xing the term associated with the economic sphere in literary texts. The author emphasizes that the merchants Dr. Rus' was not distinguished by unity and cohesion, and this can be explained by the di erence in interests. Only in the 18th century. In domestic legal practice, the guild merchants are being isolated as a separate class. In conclusion, a conclusion is drawn about the di erence in sociocultural conditions during the formation of the corporate and business culture of Western Europe and Russia, which a ected their essence, methods and methods of conducting business activities.
