Disability is regarded as a concept that has both descriptive and evaluative aspects and therefore includes judgments about moral values, the description of certain facts that give the most expressive view on the complex social and ethical problems of people with disabilities. The purpose of the study is to reflect the complexity of discussions about the medical and social models that shape the understanding of disability. Disability is understood as a pathology or a social construct. These two opposing views on disability are compared. The study shows the dependence of the simila-rities and differences between discourses on different ways of understanding the descriptive and evaluative aspects of disability concepts and the relationship between these dimensions. Although both views on disability are largely justified, they are clearly inadequate because they do not take into account the normative aspect associated with the concept of disability. The core of this concept is bioethics which makes it possible to integrate people with disabilities into society and rethink the traditional paternalistic approaches to dea-ling with people with disabilities and their needs. Disability is considered in the study in the context of life experience and moral values of people with disabilities. From a scientific perspective, this study can facilitate further research into the ethics of disability. The study may also be useful to medical practitioners and lawmakers to clarify the concepts of disability and address the certain concerns of people with disabilities.
