Etymological and semantic study of vocabulary is one of the traditional areas of linguistics. The role of such studies for philologists is indisputable. However, besides purely scientific, etymology and semantics also has an important cultural component. Knowledge of the origin, meaning and variation of certain lexical units, and often professional terms, which are high-frequency in the speech of narrow specialists, allows you to better understand and study your own profession, move away from stereotypes, enrich purely professional, often purely applied activity, with new, deep content. The profession of dentist can not be an exception here.
