The article is devoted to the interpretation of the central image of the picture by I.N.Kramsky «Christ in the Desert» by the Russian writers of XIX century. The focus is on the analysis of the sketch by I.A.Goncharov about this painting. The research leads to the conclusion about an important creative, esthetic and world outlook commonality between Goncharov and Kramskoi.
