The current stage of development of ethnic identity and ethnic relations of the people of the Pamir

Significant social and cultural, political and economic changes taking place in society at the present stage of development increase the interest in the study of ethnic identification of small nations. Despite the fact that at the present stage of development of culture, tradition, spirituality, and indeed the whole cultural aspect of the formation and development of ethnocultural processes of the population of the Pamir are sufficiently extensive database of research, however, the national consciousness of the Pamir peoples, historical background, cultural values religion, language, all this is under the threat of loss as a precious historical heritage that could cause irreparable damage to the further development of culture. The paper analyzes the characteristics of the ethnic component of the Pamir peoples, explores the problems of their ethnic relations, mainly such as differences in language, religion, culture, the processes of formation of national identity and legal status of the Pamir's region.
