IIn the article the analysis of modern ethnic processes among the Mordovian population living on the territory of Trans-Volga region namely, namely - in Samara and Orenburg regions. The author describes the history of formation of ethno-territorial group and its ethno-demographic structure, also she analyzes trends in the development of ethno-linguistic and ethno-cultural processes in the environment of the Mordovian people of the region. All this allows to identify the nature of dispersal of Moksha and Erzya in the Trans-Volga region, the trend of changes in the number of this group of Mordovians, and the mechanisms of formation and preservation of national identity. The author shows the role of the Mordvinian national-cultural public organizations of Samara and Orenburg regions in preserving and developing ethnic culture that has a beneficial effect on spiritual and moral education of people, creating the atmosphere of mutual understanding, cooperation and tolerance.
