The article analyzes the specifics of ethnocultural education and the impact of digitalization processes on the preservation and translation of ethnic cultures. The role of the social institution of education in the translation of ethnocultural knowledge through public channels is studied. Fixed that cultural transmission in modern society is diversified, because private (primarily family) channels were unable to respond to the modern demand for ethnocultural knowledge, which led to a change of actors of ethnic culture transmission (from the older generation in the family - to public people: politicians, scientists, educators, etc.). Modern youth often acquire knowledge about ethnocultural traditions through public channels such as the Internet, the media, and the educational system. Analysis of the course “The Essentials of Spiritual and Moral Culture of the Peoples of Russia” on the Russian E-School portal revealed content bias in the amount of information on the thematic blocks of the course: about a third of the course is devoted to the specifics of Orthodoxy, which can be interpreted in a semantic connection with the trend towards cultural homogenization of society and popularization of values of Russian ethnic culture as the state-forming.
