Evolution of zoomers' reading preferences: From fantasy to hybrid forms

The article considers the transformations of the reading preferences of the generation Z (zoomers) in the conditions of digitalization of culture and technological innovations. On the basis of the comparative analysis of data of 2013–2014 and 2023, the key tendencies have been identified: decrease in the popularity of fantasy and increase of interest in hybrid genres (social science fiction, popular science literature), increased role of audio formats and digital platforms, as well as change in reading motivation towards the search for meanings and self-determination. Special attention is paid to the influence of social technologies on the choice of content, reflexive nature of modern reading behavior and necessity to adapt library strategies for working with teenagers.
