The evolution of communication of scientific and museum communities: the scientific council of the historical and local lore museums of the Russian Federation as a case study

The article discusses the activities of the Scientific Council of the Historical and Local Lore Museums of the Russian Federation, that was created during the Soviet period by the initiative of the Ministry of Culture as a coordination and expert body to develop the scientific-based recommendations to improve the work of museums. The resources of academic, university and museum science were attracted for this mission. We analyze the evolution of the activities of the Сouncil during 1980-2015 and the main forms of communication between the museum and the scientific community, allowing to preserve the best traditions of the Russian museology.
