Evolution of the concepts of time in English language world picture

The article deals with the peculiarities of the linguistic representation of the concepts of time in the English language. There is stated that the abstract concepts of time of the native speakers of the English language are subject to changes and verbalized brighter with the use of metaphors that describe the cognitive traits of the concept. There are revealed the most obvious groups of the metaphoric explications that are the collective and individual reflection of the perception of the time continuum at a determined stage of the development of language world picture.
