Summary Objectives: To evaluate the potential of esophageal stenting as a modern high-efficiency method of dysphagia syndrome control in patients with gastro esophageal cancer. Materials and Methods: We have analyzed the literature data concerning evolution of the potential of dysphagia syndrome control in patients with gastro esophageal cancer. We have done a historical research of gastrostomy and jejunostomy practices, energetic methods of affecting tumor as well as bougienage and esophageal stenting. Our own experience includes 34 clinical cases of esophageal stenting with a subsequent special chemo-radiotherapy. Main results: esophageal stenting has significantly improved the quality of life of gastro esophageal cancer patients with a syndrome of dysphagia without affecting their survival and has provided an opportunity to conduct a specialchemo-radiotherapy. Conclusions: Endoprosthesis replacement of esophagus as a method of relief of malignant dysphagia is highly effective and safe enough, providing both nutritional support and the opportunity toimplicate special methods of cancer treatment, prevention of trachea-esophageal fistula and maintenance of a satisfactory quality of life.
