I-resistant thyroid cancer: pathogenesis and approaches to treatment

The review presents current literature data on the pathogenesis of iodine-refractory thyroid cancer, with a detailed description of molecular genetic studies, including those focused on the major factors of angiogenesis. Existing methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients with verified iodine-refractory thyroid cancer are considered. The advantages of a multi-component treatment, including surgical intervention, radioiodtherapy and chemotherapeutic treatment with targeted drugs are shown.
