On the basis of comparative analysis of monographs by M. V. Boguslavsky, S. V. Bobryshov, G. B. Kornetov the article deals with the issues connected with to methodology of the history of pedagogy, the justification, classification and the specifics of the application of scientific approaches in historical and pedagogical research. A detailed description of each of the main approaches of the modern history of pedagogy is presented.
