The problem of mythologizing historical figures in Plutarch's "Comparative Biographies" is considered. The biographical fictionalized genre, which inherited the principles of ancient literature, was formed on its artistic and aesthetic traditions. An introspective look at the real heroes of ancient Greek history demanded from the author an empirical approach to the object of aesthetic experience, conditioned by external and internal reasons. The genesis of Plutarch's fictionalized life testifies to the fact that this genre began to take shape as a result of the transformation of the canons of ancient literature.

Plutarch, "comparative biographies", functional relationship "fact - fiction", myth, fiction
