The problem of forming the concept of economic mathematical competence

The article deals with the problem of students’ forming the economic and mathematical competence in higher education institutions. The author defines essence of this concept. The analysis of the concepts «competency» and «competence» was carried out by comparing existing explanations of concepts by specialists in Pedagogy in Russia and abroad. The essence of the competence approach and the concept of «professional competence» are considered. The interrelation of the concepts «competency», «competence», «competence approach», «professional competence» is revealed. The concepts of «mathematical» and «economic» competence are considered. The goals and tasks of forming the students’ economic and mathematical competence are formulated. Structural components of economic and mathematical competence are defined.
