Towards cognitive modeling and research of the concept «SURPRISE»

The article focuses on problems of linguistic cognitive modeling, identification of cognitive, lexical and semantic elements which form a concept model. Positive and negative characteristics of current cognitive research methods are observed with the example of the concept SURPRISE. The central idea of the paper is that the method of definitions proves to be the most accurate and complete. This approach allows correlating both lexical and cognitive levels of a concept model, thus, making the chosen method the most relevant in cognitive modeling.
