Factors in the minors' Suicidal behavior development in the Republic of Buryatia (based on a sociological survey of school students)

The Republic of Buryatia continues to be a high-suicide region. In 2017, there was a suicide rate of 39.4 per 100,000 population. At the same time, it was 12.6 per 100,000 population among children and teenagers aged 10-15 and 86.6 among adolescents aged 15-19. The paper identified the factors in the minors' suicidal behavior development in the Republic of Buryatia. A comprehensive study of the issue under review included the analysis of documents and information of educational institutions, school student questionnaire, and expert survey of educators. The study was conducted in the context of modern theoretical analysis based on scientific findings and conclusions of other applied research on suicidal behavior. The findings related to the social nature of suicidal behavior are of particular scientific interest from the perspective of psychology, sociology, and social work. They can be useful in preventing suicidal behavior.
