The research discusses the basic provisions on the quality of life. The study presents the development stages of this term from the propagandistic idea to the concept. The increased quality of life is of high importance as the human factor has become a peculiar phenomenon of modernity. The correlation between the concepts of quality of life and standard of living is considered. Their proximity, interdependence, and nonidentity are discussed. In the author's opinion, there is a trend in a convergent interpretation of different research areas focused on the quality of life, including sociological and ecological knowledge. It is proposed to consider the possibility of applying the anthropological and ecological approach to the quality of life of the population. The territorial anthropological and ecological system can be treated as a model with the population (a person) as a central subsystem.
