The article deals with the description of the basic tendencies of the development of the theory of the interlinguistic lexical correspondences. There are analyzed the concepts “full correspondence”, “partial correspondence” and “non-equivalence”. There are considered the lexical units of the English and Tatar languages relating to the semantic field “Water” as the examples of the description.
