The article focuses on experimental and morphological investigations related to surgical thrombectomy for patients suffering from phlebemphraxis of deep leg veins. An experimental model for performing surgical thrombectomy from deep veins by means of a traditional technique is described. The research data confirm the opinion on a damaging effect of circular exposure of vein segments on the latter's intramural circulation. Also given is quantitative evaluation of the degree of intramural circulation dysfunction depending on the size of an exposed venous segment. Also described are the results of macromorphometric research into the femoral vein, the relationship of its valves and secondary tributaries. The feasibility of functional recovery and further support for the proximal valve of the femoral vein is substantiated. This could be achieved by providing secondary tributaries of ductal phlebocirculation through the above-mentioned segment after thrombectomy, when full recovery of antegrade blood stream is impossible.
