The article considers some methodological foundations for the developing methods for investigating cruelty to animals. The author pays attention to the lack of investigation techniques of this type of crime. The scientific publications are studied, the methodological foundations of the investigation methods of cruelty to animals are revealed, and the necessity for their creation is substantiated.
