Translating liturgical texts into modern Russian as a complex linguistic, hermeneutical and linguistic-culturological challenge requires special translation strategies, and connotative semantic components prove domineering in strategic choice. Omission or substitution of such components leads to drastic changes in the model of liturgical act, bringing about its secular re-interpretation
