On the periodization of translation theories

The paper attempts to put forth a periodization of translation theories. The author starts with review of the existing chronologies and periodizations to proceed with the one of his own. On the first level all theories are divided in two periods that are prescientific and scientific with each of them being further divided into smaller periods according to the approach adopted towards the object of study.
