About indications for removable cava filter implantation

Бесплатный доступ

A removable cava filter (CF) was implanted in 43 patients. The main indications for this procedure were embolothreatening thrombosis of the iliacaval segment, venous thrombectomy, thrombolysis, a high risk of venous thromboembolic complications. CF was removed in 26 patients (60.5%). No cases of pulmonary embolism (PE) were noted. Embolism in the filtering device was observed in two cases (4.7%). In the long-term period there were no cases of inferior vena cava (IVC) after CF retrieval. Thus, implantation of a removable CF is not only a reliable predictor of PE in the period when the risk of its occurrence is the highest, but it also allows for avoiding complications characteristic of permanent venacavafiltration.
