In the article, the author analyzes the concept and the essence of counteraction to the disclosure and investigation of crimes. Various views on this issue existing in criminology are considered. The relevance is due to the fact that counteraction to the detection and investigation of crimes over the past decades has turned into a dangerous negative phenomenon that requires a close attention of both scientists and law enforcement officers. The counteraction carried out by various persons affects the detection of crimes, the qualitative and objective investigation of criminal cases, and ultimately the administration of justice. Taking into account the various definitions and opinions of scientists, the author formulated the concept of counteraction to the detection and investigation of crimes, as well as the concept of norms that facilitate the detection and investigation of crimes. In conclusion, types of behavior that counteract the detection and investigation of crimes are highlighted, both those provided for by criminal law and those that have not found a legislative support, but are encountered in the practical activities of law enforcement agencies.
