Issues related to the teaching of English for medical purposes in modern higher education are receiving more and more attention in the methodology of teaching foreign languages. A foreign language is necessary for medical students for further professional and personal growth, language support for their professional activities. Knowledge of a foreign language for a medical specialist becomes his important personal characteristic, it implies the possession of foreign language professional communication skills in order to discuss and solve various problems in the field of healthcare with their foreign colleagues at the appropriate level. English for Medical Purposes should be an integrated subject, its course should be closely related to clinical disciplines and disciplines of the general medical cycle. In this article, the authors consider the content of the concept of English for Medical Purposes (EMP), justify the need to revise some aspects in teaching English to medical students and offer their own vision of the English for Medical Purposes course.
