To the question of teachers' professional readiness to supervise research activities of students-linguists

The article highlights the issues related to teachers' professional readiness for supervising research activities of students-linguists. The authors focus their attention on the fact, that research actions and operations must be included into the list of basic professional skills of teachers. The ability to supervise students' research work is an indicator of high qualification of the teacher, his progressive methods of training and development. By ‘readiness for research activity' the authors understand a complex of teacher's qualities needed for implementing the functions of the subject of this activity and describe four groups of readiness components: cognitive, motivational, indicative and technological. The article presents the experience of the Students' Research Association, the main objective of which is to enhance the formation of comprehensively developed, creatively educated persons, future specialists in humanities. The aim of the scientific society is development of the students' research potential, the active life position formation and personal self-realization. Objectives of the Association are: development and formation of grounds for the development of students' analytical-synthetic and heuristic way of thinking, creative abilities, supplying students with relevant experimental and empirical methods, enhancing students' cognitive interest to their future profession of a teacher-linguist. Only efficient combination of two functions of a teacher - performer of a research able to conduct his own studies and supervisor of students' research work enhancing their creative thinking and scientific potential - allows to develop further professional and cultural competences of teachers and to achieve better results.
