On the Development of Glamping in Dagestan

This article is devoted to the study of new trends and unusual formats of outdoor activities in the recreational tourism sector and to glamping as a promising area of camping tourism in particular. It systematizes the scientific literature analyzing the emergence and development of the concept of “glamping”, examines the positive and negative aspects of unconventional tourist accommodation in the open air as well as some features of modern glamping in Russia based on the example of Dagestan. The authors assess the current state of regional glamping and factors contributing to its development and conclude that this format of tourist recreation is very popular and promising for both Dagestan and Russia as a whole and will actively support further development of domestic tourism in Russian regions. The article emphasizes that the natural conditions of sunny Dagestan and its high potential for the development of domestic tourism make it possible to create unique glamping facilities, and the great interest in glamping services activates the process of modernization of the tourism industry in Russia during the period of numerous sanctions and a complex geopolitical crisis in the world.
