To the question of the sexual partner role in contraceptive choice of woman

The purpose of research: to reveal the role of the sexual partner in the choice of method of contraception. Materials and methods: questionnaire, the analysis of outpatient documentation cards of 284 sexually active women of different reproductive age: 15-19, 20-35, 36-45 years. Results: up to 35% of young women are poorly familiar with a variety of methods of protection from pregnancy, hope for awareness of the partners, thus use less effective methods of contraception and independently make decisions about abortion. With the years women acquire knowledge on the methods of contraception, choose more differentially and more often make joint decisions on the outcome of undesirable pregnancy. As a results young women do abortions 5 times more often in comparison with women of more senior reproductive age. The choice of method of protection from undesirable pregnancy in most cases depends on the mutual decision of sexual partners and on many factors, including, knowledge of methods of contraception, consequences of abortion, trust between partners. The conclusion: work on the increase of level of knowledge and skills of sexual partners men, their possibilities and capabilities to discus together with women the question of prevention of undesirable pregnancy will help women to choose rationally the method of contraception, to reduce frequency of abortions and to keep reproductive health.
