To the question about the role of law in a democratic state

This article examines some questions regarding the role of law in a democratic state. The topic is relevant, since the Russian Federation is a rule-of-law state with a democratic form of government, therefore, the ratio of law and democracy is colossally high. Also, the problem of this topic does not cease to cause scientific discussions. The results of the discussions can influence the subsequent directions, goals and objectives taken by politicians in the field of interaction with society. Currently, no state can exist without legislation and legal regulation. Therefore, the author of the article analyzes the functions of law in the state and the importance of law in civil society. The article notes that a prerequisite for democracy is the mutual consent of the political authorities and society to obey legal laws. It is emphasized that a special role is assigned to the Constitution, as the basic law in the formation of a democratic society. The conclusion is drawn that defines law in a democratic state not only as support for a democratic form of government and regulates social relations, but also as a normative regulator between the state and society as a whole.
