The essence of job burnout syndrome

The research explains the essence of the job burnout syndrome, presents the methodological approaches to interpreting it, and describes the mental states preceding fatigue. The study highlights the characteristics of job burnout among social workers since they deal with monotonous and psychologically and socially energy-consuming work, contact with many people, have to mobilize their personal resources, and help their customers address difficult and confusing situations every day. The paper highlights the individual psychological characteristics of professionals prone to job burnout. The authors define the diagnostic methods of acute physical, mental, and emotional fatigue preceding job burnout. Russian and international researchers focus on three basic approaches (individual, interpersonal, and organizational ones) to dealing with (job) burnout syndrome. The main provisions of each approach are summarized.
