On the question of the architectonic of A.M. Remizov's novel “Swirling Russia”

Within the framework of linguosemiotic theory and pragmalinguistics, this article studies architectonics, i.e. the external structure of the text, its surface, its graphic form, its distribution on the page space. The main target is to analyze the ways of creating texts which through organizing its architectonics, influence the internal semantic structure of the text, as well as the establishment of the repertoire and analysis of non-verbal, “implicit” means used by the author to implement communicative, emotional, aesthetic and other intentions in the artistic text. In А.М. Remizov’s novel “Swirling Russia”, special composition and strategy are manifested in an increased segmentation of the text into heterogeneous fragments. Individual deviations from the generally accepted norms of dividing the text into paragraphs (using multiple paragraph indents), using non-verbal signs (spaces and uncodified punctuation, including double dashes) in their connections overcome the linearity of the text; create its diversity and polyphony. The perlocutionary effect of such strategy is the actualization of conceptual information, the dominant idea of the text, strengthening the suggestive influence on the addressee, and countering the inertial perception of the text. Uncodified, occasional punctuation marks in conjunction with paragraph indent, perform a meaning-forming function, reinforce the internal dialogue and polemicity of the text, and enhance the role of the reader - recipient of the text. The non-standard graphic embodiment reflects not only the writing and the author's originality of the visual representation of the text, but also indicates certain changes in the mechanism of language use.
