To the issue on the evolution of the Russian criminal legal system in the period 1926-1996

Historical and legal research of a particular phenomenon in any field, including in criminal law science, is of particular importance and is relevant at any stage of modern reality, since historical experience accumulated over time can become an effective means of improving the existing criminal legal system. In this article, the author examines the first Soviet Criminal codes, which had a direct impact on the formation of the modern system of criminal legislation, including the Criminal code of the Russian Federation in 1996. The aim of the research is to develop a scientific understanding of the stages of formation, development and evolution of the Russian criminal law system.
