To the question of the main approaches to the definition of the concepts of “honor” and “dignity” in the legal field

This article classifies multiple approaches to the definition of the concepts of “honor” and “dignity”, which are widespread in the modern legal field, while analyzing their dialectical relationship with legal consciousness. The expediency of considering these concepts from several sides is substantiated: from the side of logical analysis, legal positions (theoretical and legal concepts) and from a philological point of view. Various approaches to the definitions of the concepts of “honor” and “dignity” are compared, the absence of significant differences in these interpretations among legal scholars is noted, the need to legalize a single concept is emphasized. The author's definition of the definitions “honor” and “dignity” is formulated in the work. It is concluded that both concepts in their dialectical unity reflect the deep interrelation of the individual, society and the state, the balance of interests in this system on the basis of respect for individual rights and freedoms.
