On issue of obtaining stone casting from basalt local deposits by electroarc method

The article studies characteristics of basalts of the Enkhor deposit of the Republic of Buryatia and establishes possibility of its use as a local raw material in production of stone casting. The study reveals chemical and granulometric composition of rocks using dispersion-gravimetric, UV-View spectroscopic, microscopic, as well as X-ray phase analyses. The study establishes actual density, granulometric, elemental, chemical and mineralogical (XFA) compositions of basalt, and calculates acidity modulus amounted to Mk = 5,73. That makes possible to obtain basalt casting from a single-component charge. In electroplasma plant stone casting is obtained, which is given a geometric shape, in the form of a glass melt of basalt. Thus, the conducted research indicates suitability of basalt for production of melt from it by the electroplasma method, with further production of stone casting.
