Toward realization of the falling motive through verbal means in the computer game Starcraft: brood war

The article examines the motif of falling as one of the main prototypical storyline models. The author takes the computer RTS game Starcraft: Brood war as a basis. This game has a storyline of one of the central characters that ends dramatically with the character’s transition to the dark side. The aspects of such a transition are taken into consideration. Certain key plot points are highlighted and analyzed, which contribute to the player’s understanding and emotional involvement in the fate of the game's characters. In addition, some omissions and inconsistencies are considered, which do not allow to fully reveal certain plot devices and can mislead the player, form his false expectations of the actions of one or another character. At the end of the article a brief conclusion is given.
