Qualitative methodology of empirical research on the opinions of police officers in the structure of sociological diagnostics of the activities of the department of internal affairs (using the example of in-depth interviews)

The purpose of the study is to determine the potential of in-depth interviews as a kind of qualitative methodology as an element of sociological diagnostics of the management system of the internal affairs bodies of Russia. The methodological basis of the research was made up of institutional and neo-institutional analysis, as well as the main theoretical provisions of the qualitative methodology of empirical sociological research (phenomenology, ethnomethodology). The results of the study. The role of qualitative methodology in the structure of sociological diagnostics is determined, primary information on the state of the Department of Internal Affairs and the course of its reform, the state of the management system is analyzed, the strengths and weaknesses of the in-depth interview method in this research situation are shown. The prospects of the study are further qualitative sociological analysis of problematic situations related to police activities in modern conditions.
