A Qualitative Research on Teacher Training System in Kyrgyzstan During and After the Soviet Union

The main aim purpose of this research is to determine the views of the graduates of these schools about the teacher training system in Kyrgyzstan during and after the Soviet Union. Case study, one of the qualitative research methods was used in the research. There are 92 teachers in the study group of the research. In the determination of the sample, "purposeful sampling", which is one of the purposeful sampling methods used in qualitative research was used. The data were collected by semi-structured interview method form, and analyzed with the traditional content analysis technique. According to the results obtained from the research, teachers generally think that traditional teaching methods are used in teacher education as a lecture, exercise, questions and answers, note-taking. Participants were highly satisfied with their teaching practice courses in time of the Soviet Union, and after it, many considered insufficient. Teachers stated that they did not receive any training on scientific research both during and after the Soviet Union. The teachers who participating in the research were of the opinion that assessment-evaluation skills, classroom management skills, and educational psychology knowledge gained very well during the education they received. In general, the participants stated that the education they received at the school where they received teacher education was sufficient to work as a teacher.
