The citizens’ quality of life as an assessment criterion for social and cultural space of a city

The study discusses the impact of social and cultural space of a city on the citizens’ quality of life. The latter is considered as an assessment criterion for the space under review. The author highlights the basic structural elements of social and cultural space (society, information and communicative, spiritual and value-based, objective spatial, cultural and historical components) which cover all areas of citizens’ life and affect their social well-being, urban life satisfaction and, consequently, its quality. To modify and manage social and cultural space of a city, one should take into account a number of criteria influencing the quality of urban life and citizens’ subjective assessments of their well-being and living in the city from the cultural viewpoint.
